I have been an elementary teacher for many years, 20 of them being with the Melvindale-Northern Allen Park district. Now, I am an instructional literacy coach and reading specialist at Allendale, and for this year, I am also in the role of COSA or a Coach on Special Assignment working with Wayne RESA.
Reading has always been a passion for my family and me, and being a lifelong learner is something I not only hope to instill in students, but something I believe in for myself. I have a Master degree in Children's Literature/Reading, a Master degree in Educational Leadership/Curriculum, and a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education.
I had the honor of watching the writing/reading process come to life when co-authoring a book with the University of Michigan, and I feel it is a privilege each day to get to work and learn with such AMAZING colleagues, students, and their families!
Family time is also extremely important to me. My husband is a public school Music teacher and jazz musician, and our daughter is a public school student who likes to read, write, sing, dance, experiment, create, and play. This summer we had a new addition to our family when we adopted our rescue pup!
