GIRLS ON THE RUN
Coaches inspire girls to build confidence and other important life skills through dynamic, interactive lessons and physical activity. Our lessons focus on building social, emotional, and physical skills in girls while encouraging healthy habits for life. Each season ends with a fun non-competitive 5K. This event gives girls a tangible sense of accomplishment and a place to celebrate with their team and family.
Friendly competition is at the heart of challenge, as a team of 10 students engage in research, problem-solving, coding and engineering - building and programming a LEGO robot that navigates the missions of a robot game. Teams also participate in a research project to identify and solve a relevant real-world problem. Students are selected through an application and in-person interview process.
Peer Mediation is a peaceful way for students to solve their problems with the guidance of specially trained 4th and 5th Grade students. It is a process by which two or more students involved in a dispute meet in a private, safe, and confidential setting to work out their problems with the assistance of trained student mediators under the supervision of a School Social Worker. Peer Mediation is available to all Allendale students.
The School Safety Patrol's job is to remind students of the school safety rules and to guide them in safe arrival, dismissal, and movement through the building. Responsible, respectful and safe fifth graders apply and are assigned safety positions. Safety patrol begins at the end of September through beginning of June with a change over in positions after the second card marking.
STRIDE is a fun fitness and running program for boys in grades 4 and 5. Boys have the chance to share their thoughts and opinions about various life topics in a safe, encouraging environment that helps them develop character, while building their running endurance to compete in a 5K.
